Glorious Culmination of God's Work
June 1, 2002
Pastor Bob Roberts

I. Zechariah 8:21-23 - Promise of Future Victory

 A. Jew = servant of God
 B. Esther 8:17; Romans 2:28,29. People became Jews. They were Jews on the interior.

II. Requirements Zechariah 8:16-17
What must we do to have people want to take hold of our skirt?

 A. Speak the truth.
  1. Abraham's experience. No deviation from strict integrity.
  2. My experience in canvassing: A lady asked if several items of a package could be purchased separately. I led her to believe that they must be purchased as a package. I misled her and later had to go back and tell her the truth. In another case, I was visiting at the home of a lady from the church. A man came to the door asking her for 5 pesos. She told him she did not have it but was not telling the truth.

 B. "Execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates."
 1. Problems among brethren 1 Corinthians 6:1,5-7
  2. In your gates 1 Peter 2:20 If you want to see the work end gloriously, execute the judgment of truth in your gate.

 C. "Let none of you imagine evil... against his neighbor."
A sister quit coming to church because she thought people were talking about her. She could see them doing so when she came to church. After following up, I found out they were saying how glad they were she was coming back to church.
  1. Sin originates in the heart Matthew 15:19; 2 Corinthians 10:5. Think well about all things.
  2. Pray for your enemies. Matthew 5:44. Do good to them.

 D. "Love no false oath." It means tell the truth.
  1. Income tax form. It contains an oath that says you are telling the truth.
  2. Baptismal vow, matrimony promises, notes - debts, tithe.

III God Hates These Things.

 A. Proverbs 12:22 - They that deal truly are His delight.
 B. Isaiah 60:1-4
 C. "That which God wanted to accomplish for the world through Isareal, the chosen people, He will finally accomplish through His church of the last days." PK:713,714.

The promise is positive - God's church will arise to the occasion but it's going to require all these things we read in Zechariah.
