The Master Calls Us Out
May 18, 2002
Pastor Bob Roberts

I. My Trip To Mutata'
I know the people by their speech, their conversation, candles, etc.
 A. We were called to be separate from the world. 2 Corinthians 6:17,18
 B. We were a holy people. 1 Peter 2:9

II. Message To This People Titus 2:11-14
 A. Christians are known by:
  1. Their dress. 1 Timothy 2:9,10; 1 Peter 3:3,4
  2. Their diet. 1 Corinthians 10:31; 1 Corinthians 6:19,20
  3. Their speech. Titus 2:7,8; Colossians 4:6
Many say - Ave Maria, Por Dios, etc.

  3. Their entertainment. 1 John 2:15-17
    a. James 4:4
    b. T1:288 - "There is chaff among us, and this is why we are so weak. Some are constantly leaning to the world. Their views and feelings harmonize much better with the spirit of the world than with that of Christ's self-denying followers."
Pastor Roberts related his experience with mowing the grass. In one area of his yard next to the road their is a drainage ditch. When he runs the riding lawn mower next to that ditch, the mower is leaning towards the ditch. At any moment it feels like it might tip over losing its stability.
   5. Their observance of the Sabbath. Exodus 20:8-11
    a. Sign. Exodus 31:31
    b. How? Nehemiah 13:15-18
    c. Remnant church. Isaiah 58:12-14

III. Whoever Confesses Me
 A. T1:303,304. "No one can truly confess Christ unless the mind and spirit of Christ are in Him..."
"The powerful, purifying influence of truth in the soul, and the character of Christ exemplified in the life, are a confession of Him. We may deny Christ in our life by indulging love of ease or love of self, by jesting and joking and by seeking the honor of the world. We may deny Him in our outward appearance by confirming to the world, by a proud look or by costly apparel."
 B. Mrs. Londono's words about curtains, etc. Mrs. Londono had thought about putting curtains in her windows. The reason is that the houses where she lived had wooden shutters as windows. When these were opened during the day there was nothing to shield the view from outside. It was customary to put in curtains. However, Mrs. Londono decided instead of buying curtains, she would use that money for God's purposes. This is the selfless spirit of true Christianity.

Pastor Roberts concluded the sermon by asking those who wished to give their hearts to God to come forward. And for those who wished to join the Irving Seventh-day Adventist Church to come forward. We praise God for the response to his word.
