It Is Well
April 13, 2002
Vennor Hackshaw

Vennor Hackshaw, an elder at the Irving Seventh-day Adventist Church presented a message entitled "It Is Well" based on 2 Kings chapter 4. Below is an outline of his message.

Key Text: 2 Kings 4:32-35

  • God cares for us.
    • God worked through Elijah to reach the woman of Shunem
    • The "great" woman of Shunem had a need and God blessed her with a child
    • No matter our background, God wants what is best for us
    • God is waiting for us to give him an opportunity to work a miracle in our lives Jeremiah 31:3
  • Our faith will be tested, but if we have faith in God it will be well with us
    • Problems come to every home. Death of son.
    • Shunnamite woman did not lose hope. She did not prepare for funeral
    • Seek God in time of trouble. Do not trust your own judgment
  • How do we respond when our faith is tried?
    • Spend less time worrying. Spend more time praying and following GOd's command
    • Be selective with whom you share your burdens
    • Faith is gained by trusting God with small battles Phillipians 1:6
    • Jesus our only example strengthened faith by trusting God the Father
    • David trusted God as well Psalms 102:1-10
  • God is still in Control
    • Current world conditions may cause many to lose faith
    • Begin trusting God now so that you can trust him when it gets difficult
    • We do not know the future but we know who holds the future
    • Follow the Shunammite's example
