Press Release March 13, 2002

On Sabbath March 9th 2002 the church had its first baptism for the year. The Candidate was LoAnn Nguyen (pronounced Win). The Irving family also bade farewell to Kennedy Omwega Orina who returned to Kenya.

Profile of LoAnn
The Nguyen family is originally from Vietnam, they moved to Arkansas in 1990. Their background is Buddhism. Prior to coming to the United States of America the candidate had never heard of Seventh-day Adventist. LoAnn attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville where she obtained a Masters Degree in Microelectronics. On completion of graduate studies the candidate moved to Dallas, Texas to pursue employment opportunities with Texas Instruments.

A classmate, Ryan Swain, gave LoAnn a book, Steps to Christ, and at a later date he invited her to attend a crusade. They were both pursuing internships at Texas Instruments and in July of 2001 LoAnn started visiting Seventh-day Adventist Churches. After visiting several Churches the candidate decided to make Irving Seventh-day Adventist her home. "I liked the small congregation, friendly members and great potluck fellowship." LoAnn was impressed with God's love and started to read the Bible. Church attendance became a fixture on her calendar and the rest as they say is history.

The Irving Seventh-day Adventist family extends a warm welcome to LoAnn and we pray that LoAnn will have a fulfilling Christian experience.
