Randy Roberts, Senior Pastor of the Loma Linda University Seventh-day Adventist Church will be the guest speaker for the Sabbath service in Irving on July 7 at 10:50 AM. The sermon title is "The Life God Has Always Wanted".
Randy is the son of South America missionaries Bob and Bettye Roberts. Until college age, the majority of his life was spent in Latin American countries. In 1981, Randy graduated from Southwestern Adventist University in Keene, Texas, with a major in Theology, and a minor in Modern Languages. For over five years he was a pastor in the Texas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. During this time he completed a Master of Divinity degree from the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan, from which he graduated in 1985.
In 1987 he began work as a chaplain at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, California. For over seven years he provided patient and staff support, spiritual care and counseling. He was also instrumental in establishing and leading the Medical Center's grief recovery program. During this time he completed a Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at United States International University in San Diego, California. He is licensed as a marriage and family therapist by the state of California.
In early 1994 he began teaching full-time with the Loma Linda University Faculty of Religion. He graduated with a Doctor of Ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California, in June, 1996. Currently he is Associate Professor of Theology and Ministry as well as serving as Associate Dean for the Faculty of Religion. In addition to this, he serves as the Senior Pastor for the Corona Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Randy is married to Anita (Justiniano) Roberts. They have a son named Austin, and a daughter named Miranda. Hobbies include playing sports, cheering for the Dallas Cowboys(!), and reading.
