Bob Roberts serves as pastor of the Irving Seventh-day Adventist Church in Irving Texas with his wife along side of him. Since most of the church members could not be present for the ceremony in Houston, the church planned a surprise celebration the following Sabbath at Irving. In a ceremony following the divine worship hour, the Roberts were presented with flowers and interviewed about their ministry. A special fellowship meal consisting of foods from "south of the border" was then served. Originally from Fort Worth, the Roberts served as missionaries in South and Central America for over 25 years. In their ministry they served in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Colombia, Dominican Republic and Honduras. Although now retired, the Roberts continue full-time ministry and have been at Irving almost 4 years. Under Pastor Robert's leadership, church membership has grown tremendously and will be on expanding by opening a church in Las Colinas. On April 13, 2002 Pastor Bob and his wife Bettye Roberts were honored for 50 years of service to the church. The celebration took place at the Community 2002 Texas Campmeeting in Houston where they were awarded with a commemorative plaque.
